JoAnn Lou Koester, 88, of Freeport, joined her husband, Dick and daughter, Sandra Jo in paradise on Wednesday Oct 31, 2018, at her home in Freeport surrounded by her loving children.
Born April 14, 1930 in Freeport, IL, she was the daughter of Arthur "Pete" and Bernice (Faerber) Clay.
She married Richard Koester June 28, 1953. JoAnn was the proud mother of 6 children.
JoAnn was a lifelong learner, believing that serving others, nursing, teaching, scouting, tutoring until the age of 88 and helping young people find their way in the world was a passion and mission. Her faith in God guided her journeys to the lives of many; including 30 plus years touching those across the world through her missionary work alongside her husband.
Her readiness to help in any way left a lifelong impression with her children, family and those around her. This is evident in the paths her children's live have taken, teaching, entrepreneurship, medical fields, team leaders, creative problem solvers and social justice work.
Volunteering and community improvement through numerous year of scouting, farmers market, Koester Krafts, church involvement, Crossroads Kidzlink, and music, provided her (and her family) with an enriched and fulfilling life.
