Jocelynne Swanson, age 74 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Friday, March 31, 2017. She was born May 18, 1942 in Clinton, IA; the daughter of the late Joseph and LaVonne (Hicks) Maresca. She married John Swanson on December 31, 1966.

She was a cake decorator for 35 years. She also worked 10 years at Professional Collections and 5 years at the FHN Business Office. Along with working, she was a homemaker and wonderful cook. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. She was a very creative person who enjoyed painting, making sugar eggs and ginger bread houses.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, John Swanson of Freeport; sons, Joseph (Erica) Swanson of Rock Falls, IL, Vincent (Emily) Swanson of St. Louis, Mo, Steven (Robin) Swanson of Freeport, and Dominic (Angie) Swanson of Esmond, IL; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Maresca, Roco (Carolyn) Maresca, Michael (Elaine) Maresca and Tony (Roberta) Maresca; and sister Cina Maresca. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 5th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 6th at 10:00 am also at Walker Mortuary. A memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com.
