Obituary
Joe Peter Janshen, 87, of Freeport, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born August 28, 1922 in Loguard Germany he was the son of Marten and Gertie (Henning) Janshen. Joe came to America with his parents and sister in 1928.
He married Helen Nieman February 4, 1953 and she died January 13, 1995.
Joe was a lifetime farmer.
His memberships included, St. John United Church of Christ, Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, and he was a charter member of German Valley Historical Society Museum.
Surviving are his sisters, Harmina W. Scheffner of Forreston and Mary Jean Harrenstein of German Valley; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and his brother in-laws, Robert Scheffner and Marvin Harrenstein.
