Freeport
John C. Borovoy, 65, of Freeport, died Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Born September 18, 1943 in Paris, France he was the son of Jacques and Renee (Reichling) Borovoy. He married Julie A. Janssen January 19, 1963.
John was a Vietnam veteran serving 20 years with the US Navy retiring as Senior Chief. He worked at Micro Switch in Freeport until his retirement.
He was a member and Secretary of Tri-County Gun Club in Polo, and a member of Viet Now and NRA.
John adored his granddaughters and the time he spent with them. He was active in his retirement. John had many friends that he enjoyed helping.
His hobbies included, photography, working on the computer, and being out on the gun range.
John loved animals. He especially enjoyed his cats and loved Eagles and Wolves.
Surviving are his wife, Julie of Freeport; 1 daughter, Christine Borovoy of Rockford; 1 sister, Juliet (Charles) Sykes of San Diego, CA; 2 grandchildren, Cosie and Isis Borovoy both of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 11, 2009, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Entombment of his cremated remains will be in Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
There will be a gathering for family and friends Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Walker Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m.
