Obituary

John "Jack" Leroy Ingram, age 82, of Rock City, IL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, May 15, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Jack was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Born on November 2, 1942, in Shullsburg, WI, Jack was the son of the late Delvin "Deb" and Alberta "Birdie" (Rowe) Ingram. He grew up in the Shullsburg and Benton areas and graduated from Benton High School in 1961.

Jack married the love of his life, Kay Bowman, and together they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience in Rockford, IL. Jack worked at the Chrysler Belvidere Assembly Plant for over 35 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need.

Jack was a proud Green Bay Packers fan, and also enjoyed NASCAR, wrestling, and classic westerns. He found joy in fishing, playing cards, and fixing just about anything—whether it was a broken toy, a stubborn appliance, or a car in need of care. His hands were never idle, and his heart was always open.

Though he carried himself with a rugged, no-nonsense demeanor, those who knew Jack best saw the heart of gold beneath the surface. His "tough love" was a reflection of his deep care and unwavering support for his family and friends. His presence brought comfort, his laughter brought joy, and his wisdom left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Kay Ingram; his children, Kathy (Tamra) Ingram of Fond du Lac, WI, and David (Trina) Ingram of Rock City, IL; his granddaughter, Erin (Mathew) Cramer of Roscoe, IL; and his three cherished great-granddaughters, Chloe, Alaina, and Madeline. He is also survived by his sister, Debbie (Joe) Harty of Viola, WI; sisters-in-law, Janaan Ingram of Rock City, IL, Debbie Ingram of Rockford, IL, Linda Ingram of German Valley, IL, and Cheryl (Dennis) Mulcahy of Shullsburg, WI; brother-in-law, Jim (Becky) McGlynn of Shullsburg, WI; godson, Shawn (Suzy) McGlynn of Mount Morris, IL; and many loving nephews and nieces.

Jack was reunited in death with his parents, Delvin "Deb" and Alberta "Birdie" (Rowe) Ingram; his brothers, Jimmy, Joey, and Larry "Buckshot" Sr. Ingram; his sister, Kay (Joe) Brandt; his uncle, Kenny "Goose" Ingram; and his daughter-in-law, Loretta Ingram.

Jack's generosity, strength, and laughter will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and no services will be held at this time. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
