John T. "Jack" Harris, 86, of Freeport, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Presence St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born November 28, 1929 in Paw Paw. Illinois he was the son of Samuel and Myrtle M. (Talcott) Harris.
He married Shareen Cazel March 30, 1957 in Freeport.
Jack was a 1947 graduate of Pearl City and went to the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
He was an evaluation engineer for Honeywell for 44 years.
Jack was a U.S. Army veteran.
His memberships included First United Methodist Church and their choir, Honeywell Quarter Century Club, Indian Guides, and YMCA.
Surviving are his wife of Freeport; his children, Doug (Lisa) Harris and Kelly (Mark) Oleson both of Freeport, James Harris of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandchildren, Robert (Jen) Harris, Sarah Vowell, Bryndon (Erin) Oleson Jori Oleson and Jace Oleson; his great grandchildren, Lukas, Faith, Kamryn, and Korben his sister, Connie Dayley of DeKalb; and his niece, Cynthia Dayley; his step grandchildren, Lindsey Phillips and Trevor Scott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at First United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Wednesday.
Interment of his cremated remains will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for First United Methodist Church.
