John Allen Plum, 65, of German Valley (formerly of Freeport) passed away Friday Sept 15th 2023 at UW Hospital/Swedish American Hospital in Rockford following a hard-fought battle with pulmonary disease. He fought until he could fight no longer.

John was born on April 14, 1958 to Robert A and Margaret R (Rinderman) Plum in Freeport, IL. He was born on his sister's 4th birthday, not what she expected as a present! He was the 5th in line of 7 children.

John attended Freeport schools. He remained a bachelor his entire life. Cars were his 1st love. On the weekends he enjoyed racing at Byron Dragway with his good friend Troy. John also enjoyed following Nascar racing and his favorite sport team was the Minnesota Vikings. John worked hard and played hard.

In his early years Johns worked at Star Manufacturing. He retired from Danfoss in 2020 after 35 years.

Preceding him in death were his father, mother and siblings Robert (Smokey) Plum, DeborahLynn Smith and brother in law Earl Moote.

He is survived by his brother Eugene Plum (Jeanne); sister, Pat Dietmeier (Denny) both of Ridott; sister, Marsha Plum (Argie Coonts) of Lanark and brother, Michael Plum of Freeport. John had many nieces and nephews he was fond of.

John will be greatly missed by his family and friends. There will be no visitation or service per John's wishes. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
