John Pykulyk, 87, of Freeport, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born January 18, 1923 in Poland he was the son of John and Ruzalia (Rudniki) Pykulyk. He married Elizabeth Solowjow July 3, 1953.
John was a welder working for Stover Steel in Freeport. He also worked for Crum & Forester Insurance Company.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth of Freeport; daughter, Barbara (Paul) Ehlers of Dubuque, Iowa; son, John Pykulyk Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchild, Christine Ehlers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 4 sister in-laws, Rita Leerhoff of Freeport, Tamara (Gary) Miller of Fort Collins, Colorado, Alla (Ronald) Sorn of Freeport, and Donna (Robert) Redding of McKinney, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be Monday 1:30 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Kathleen Luke of Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 12 noon until time of service at the Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established in his name.
