Freeport: John Erich Rohde, 75, was called home by our Lord Tuesday March 2, 2004. John was born August 21, 1928 in Freeport he was the son of John J. Jr. and Elsie (Bauerle) Rohde. On June 24, 1950 he married Norma Jean Nickel in Freeport. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church; he worked for Micro Switch, Barber Coleman and Northwest Telephone, after his retirement he worked for Highland Community College. John was an avid fisherman and loved to go fishing with his friends, daughters, and his grandsons. Surviving is his wife, five daughters, Victoria A. (Tom) Shuey of Prescott, AZ, Theresa M. (Robert) Young of Rockford, Catherine L. (Steve) Chlupsa of Plymouth, Minn. Luanne E. (Michael) Borowicz of Middleton, Wis. and Mary Louise (Keith) Otte of Freeport, one brother Stephen (Mara) Rohde of Bellville, Wis. Two sisters, Mary Ann Kass of Powers, Mich and Helen (Brent) Raders of Freeport, eight granddaughters and six grandsons and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service will be held Friday 11 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Monsignor P. William McDonnell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at Walker Mortuary with a rosary service at 7:00 pm. A memorial has been established in his name.
