John Thomas was born July 11, 1932, to the parents of John Manuel Thomas and Mammie Lee (Britton) Thomas. John peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2024, at the Serenity House in Oregon, Il surrounded by his wife and dear friends.

John was a lifelong truck driver that traveled the whole country memorizing every highway from coast to coast long before GPS was a thing. Along the way he met a hot chick with the same passion of truck driving. She became the love of his life, Sharon.

John loved the sport of bowling. He bowled on leagues where he met many lifelong friends. He attended Breakthrough Church where everyone just loved him! John had a contagious spirit to be around. He always looked for the best in every situation and praised God for every opportunity to wake up and be in his presence.

John enjoyed going on bus trip with Pastors Fred & Laurie. One of his favorite trips was to the motorcycle museum and being able to drive the RV.

John loved going to Deb & Kim's farm where it reminded him of his childhood. He loved just riding in the combine or sitting on a haybale chatting, He wanted to lend a hand to anyone that needed. He loved sharing his talents and abilities with others when he could.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John M Thomas and Mammie Thomas, John Willie (Lora) Betty Jean Madlock(Lee), Robert Chester (Flora), Joe Lewis aka JL , Betty Joe Paul(Ray),Lucy May(James) and his youngest daughter Sophia Y. Bagley(Bill) and one great grandson Paul Beaty Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories : his wife Sharon , His sisters Deloris Shaw(Dexter), Carolyn ,Gloria ,tommy (Princetta), Leonard(Jennifer) Mitchell

His children Diane(Ronnie) Veronn, Linda(Diaba),Leonard, Doneric, Lauretta(Ricardo),Brenda, Mike and his stepson mark(Tiffany)

Along with 22 grandchildren and 18great grandkids along with a host of nieces and nephews and closest friends.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 11:30. Services will immediately follow at 11:30 all at Breakthrough Church in downtown Freeport.
