Johnnie O Hendren, 92, of Freeport, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born August 26, 1918 in Statesville, North Carolina he was the son of Frank and Mary (Abernathy) Hendren. He married Nettie M. Nott June 8, 1942.
Johnnie was a World War II Army veteran.
He worked as a salesman at Interlocking Fence for several years and then 30 years at J.H. Patterson, in real estate, at Wal-Mart, and at Countryside Furniture retiring in 2010 at the age of 91.
His memberships included St. John United Church of Christ, American Legion, AMVETS, Elks Lodge, and FOE Eagles.
Surviving is his wife Nettie, of Freeport; two daughters, Kaye McCulloch (Joel deceased) of Grafton, Wisconsin and Cynthia (Larry) Teller of Oak Creek, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 1, 2011, 1 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Entombment will be in Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Tuesday 11:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
