IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jonathan R.
Freidag
November 26, 1956 – May 9, 2023
Jonathan Richard Freidag, 66, passed away May 9th, 2023 in his home embraced by his loved ones.
Born November 26, 1956 in Freeport, IL. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1975. He then attended Western Illinois University where he obtained his Masters in Accounting. He worked the majority of his career at Freidag Associates with his brother in Freeport. He married Bonnie Hagemann and together they had 3 daughters. They lived in Loran, IL and later moved to Lake Carroll, IL where they raised their family boating, fishing and golfing.
In his youth, Jon spent much of his time camping, fishing and hunting with his family and many friends. His passion for the outdoors, especially fishing, was introduced to his children at very early ages. Like his father before him, Jon was an avid Chicago sports fan, especially the Cubs. Jon loved to plan vacations and travel with his family, however, fishing trips to Canada were always his favorite. He enjoyed dark beers in the company of friends, cooking for his family, and making everyone laugh with his great sense of humor. His biggest passion of all though was being a girl Dad. He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, infectious warmth and character.
He is survived by his three daughters; Jessica (Sean) O'Shea, Korina (Cody) Ray, and Karissa (Austin) Cashman; as well as his brothers, Doug (Mary) Freidag and Jim (Marie) Freidag, and their families. He was loved dearly by Julie Lackage.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jean Freidag.
Jon's family would like to sincerely thank Swedes Cancer Center of Rockford and FHN Hospice for their compassionate care; They would also like to thank all of Jon's dear friends for their unwavering love through his life and all of their support through this last year.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 18 th from 2-5pm at the Wagner House in downtown Freeport following a graveside burial service at 1pm at Oakland Cemetery all the same day. A memorial has been established in his name. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
