Known and admired  for his professional integrity and diligence,  Joseph Charles Lentz, 68, died Nov. 23, 2024 at his home in Freeport, Il

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings: Charlotte Sweeney of Chicago, Ill; John (Sandy) Lentz of Elma, Iowa; Mercy Sister Mary Bonita Lentz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Dan (Dena) Lentz of Bullhead City, Arizona; Rose (Thomas) Walsh of Lewisville, N.C.  and Michael (Robin Fishman) Lentz of Albuquerque N.M.  He is an uncle to 26 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Linus (Elsie) Lentz and a brother-in- law, Robert Sweeney.

Joe was a graduate of the University of Iowa, in Iowa City, where he worked as a campus police officer.  Joe later obtained a law degree from the University of Illinois and did some post graduate work in Washington state.  He joined the Stephenson County State Attorney's office in Freeport, IL  in 1986 and served the community of Stephenson County for 34 years.

A visitation and memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 13 at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport, IL located at 1400 Kiwanis Drive.  The visitation will begin at 10am followed by a memorial service at 11am.
