Joshua James Fredrick "Butch" Langholf, passed away suddenly at his home in Dakota on Sunday April 6, 2014. Born February 4, 1990 in Rockford he was the son of James "Snuffy" and Julie (Printz) Langholf. Josh was a 2008 graduate of Dakota High School and Kishwaukee Community College in 2012. He had a great passion for the outdoors through his farming and landscaping and was always positive and hardworking. He will always be remembered for his bright smile, warm hugs and his generous heart. He enjoyed his animals especially his dog Zeke as well as Madison and his cat Ashlyn. He served on the church council at St. James Lutheran Church in rural Forreston and was a member of the FFA Alumni. Josh owned Langholf Landscaping and Lawn Care, he farmed in the Dakota area and was the Dakota Township Road Commissioner. He was looking forward to showing cattle and pigs again. Surviving are his mother Julie Langholf of Dakota friend Jeff Hagemann of Bailyville; two sisters Jenna (Kenny) Light of Orangeville, Jessica (Ryan Munz) of Dodgeville, WI; girlfriend Ashley Morrison of Pecatonica; grandparents Eugene and Arlene Langholf of Pecatonica, Rex and Ardis Printz of Baileyville; aunts and uncles Michael (Marie) Langholf of Lena, Leslie Filer of Lena, Mike (Carla) Printz of Albuquerque, NM, Lorie (Denny) Hazel of Mt. Vernon, Godson Judd Bolen of Pecatonica and many cousins. Preceding him in death was his father Jim. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at the Dakota High School gymnasium. Funeral service will be Saturday 10 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church on West Grove Road, southeast of Forreston. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery in rural Forreston. In lieu of flowers a Joshua Langholf memorial fund has been established at German-American State Bank all branches.
