Joyce E. Brokhausen, 83, of Freeport, died Saturday, August 15, 2009, at the Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born April 28, 1926 in Freeport she was the daughter of Louis and Cordelia (Hill) Stiegman. She married Lester Brokhausen June 23, 1948 and he died November 22, 1995.
Joyce worked at Woolworths, Hanseys and JC Penneys.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her church involvement included, Concordia Society, Fidelis class, Chairman of Senior Citizens Church Group, Church Choir, and a member of the Joy Singers.
Surviving are her daughter, Sue Conkling of Freeport; 2 sons, Jim (Kathy) Brokhausen of Freeport and Dennis (Chris)
Brokhausen of Dakota; 1 sister, Pauline Spencer of Rockford; and 5 grandchildren, John, Ken, Tracy, Mckenzie, and Casey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and Husband.
Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Reverend Dr. Willis Schwichtenberg officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established.
