Joyce LaVonne Johnston (Kline) , age 87 pf Freeport, IL, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Manor Court in Freeport. She was born November 20, 1934 to Francis and Genevieve (Suttman) Kline. She graduated from Freeport High School with the class of 1953. Joyce married Robert W. Johnston on June 25, 1955; he passed on December 31, 2006.

She worked for MicroSwitch in Freeport for 20 years. Joyce was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church of Freeport. Her memberships also include White Shrine and the Order of the Eastern Star of Freeport for 50 years. She was also a Pretzel City Board member. Joyce loved scrap booking and was also an active 4-H leader.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Mary) Johnston of Westerville, OH; daughter, Ann (Edwin) Bauscher of Belvidere, IL; granddaughters, Heather (Malcolm) Kates of Virginia Beach, VA and Courtney (Ryan) Carloni of Columbus, OH; grandsons, Tyler (Kasey) Bauscher of Rockford, IL and Travis Bauscher of Polo, IL; great grandchildren, Beckett Bauscher of Rockford and Bodhi Bauscher of Polo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Genevieve Kline; husband, Robert William Johnston; and brother, Gerald Kline.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport with a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
