Joyce E. Veer, 83, of Freeport died Saturday, January 12, 2013 at her home. Born March 30, 1929 in Freeport she was the daughter of John and Lena (Fernsteadt) Diffenbaugh. On April 4, 1947 she and Raymond Veer were united in marriage, he preceded her in death on August 25, 1998. She worked for Micro Switch for over 23years retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ. One of Joyce's hobbies was camping at Emerald Acers Camp Ground in Pearl City. Surviving are two daughters Marcia (Brian) Keeton of Duluth, GA, Marla (Dan) Kreeger of Freeport; one sister Betty Bardell of Pecatonica; four grandchildren Jamason (Erin) Aurand of Freeport , Amber (Eric) Cummins of Freeport, Brandon (Staci Herrick) Kreeger of Roscoe, Olivia (David) Shaffer of Freeport; nine great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and one brother Donald. Visitation will be Tuesday 4pm until 7pm at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be 10 am Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Freeport. A memorial has been established in her name for the St. John United Church of Christ.
