Freeport-Jozsef Pregan, 69, of Freeport, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007, at FHN Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side, after a short illness.
Born August 20, 1937 in Fertoszentmiklos, Hungary he was the son of Jozsef and Maria Pregan.
He came to this country on January 30, 1957 with his aunt and uncle sponsoring him. He worked as a farm hand until his marriage to Ruthella Schultz on October 6, 1962 in Freeport. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1998.
He worked at Burgess Battery for four years and at Micro Switch for 38 years. He retired to care for his wife.
Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Shirleyan Meile of Freeport, David and Melody Meile and Bradley Meile all of Baileyville; Stacy Meile and Ronald Houston of Freeport; great niece, Schylar Meile of Forreston and great nephews, Nick Mauerman of Forreston and Trey Meile of Freeport; brother in-law, B.W. Stauffacher of Englewood, Colorado; brother and sister in-law, Ray and Evelyn Stauffacher of Ridott; sister in-law, Patricia Christen of Maitland, Florida; and sister in-law, Betty Jane Nelson of Pensacola, Florida.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial service and entombment will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
