Freeport – Juanita Cropsey, 69 of Freeport passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.  She was born September 20, 1952 in Sterling, Illinois to Ysidro and Gladys (Arroyo) Plata.  She married Richard Cropsey in1974. He passed in 2017.

Juanita was an avid movie watcher.  She enjoyed crossword puzzles, dancing in her younger years and making Easter baskets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Family was very important to Juanita.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle and Ricki Cropsey both of Freeport; her son, Timothy Sprague of Madison, WI; and her sister, Irene Leal of Dixon, Il.  Her legacy also includes 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Ysidro Plata Jr as well as an infant brother.

Services will be on Sunday, December 19 ^th with a visitation beginning at 12:30pm and a service immediately following at 1:30pm all at Walker Mortuary.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .  A memorial has been established in her name.
