Judith L. Burrington, 80, of Freeport, passed away August 5th, 2017, surrounded by family and friends. Judy was born June 25th, 1937 to Anthony and Dorothy (Shamway) Janicke. Judy attended Freeport Schools, and graduated from Rockford Comptometer School in 1956. She married Charles E. Burrington on December 6th, 1957 in Freeport. Judy worked in the office of JCPenney in Freeport for 27 years, retiring in 1997. Judy loved visiting with family and friends, traveling, and was an avid reader. Judy will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, children, Rick Burrington of Freeport; Dawn (George) McDonald of Beloit, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jerry Janicke, and nephew, John Janicke.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Judy's life will be held at the Eagles Club from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 9th. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Friends Forever Humane Society.
