Judith A. Pfile, 67, of Freeport went to be with the lord surrounded and comforted by her loving family and friends on Tuesday March 25, 2008 at her home from complications with kidney cancer. Born January 7, 1941 she was the daughter of Delbert and Lela (Schwitz) Clark. On October 8, 1960 she married Larry Pfile at the Freeport Mennonite Church. Judy was an active member of the Freeport Mennonite Church, where she had participated in the worship and praise team. Judy was employed at the Stephenson County Circuit Clerks office for 18 years retiring in 2004. She spent several years as a cake decorator making many birthday, wedding, and graduation cakes, including all 4 of her children's wedding cakes. She was a strong supporter of her grandchildren attending as many of their activities as she could. She will always be remembered for her generous hospitality which included cooking and entertaining for family and friends. Judy also had a gift for decorating her home and caring for her flowers.
"God saw that mom was tiring and we knew there was no cure. With tear filled eyes we held her hands and released her to the lord to continue in his care."
Surviving are her husband, mother, mother-in-law Joyce Pfile all of Freeport; 3 daughters Pam (Larry) Bordner and family Chelsea, Haley of Dakota, Kim Hershberger and family Amanda, Austin, Jessica, Travis of Hesston, KS, Vickie(Troy) Milks and family Jesse, Seth of Rock City; one son Brad (Sally Nampel) Pfile of Ridott; sister Joyce (Jay) Yoder of Goshen, IN; brother-in-law Dean (Coleen) Pfile of Freeport; sisters-in-laws Marlene (Richard) Hardaway of Clyde, N.C., Margie (Steve) Siebert of Henderson, NE, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, father-in-law Ezra Pfile, mother-in-law Wilda Pfile.
Visitation will be 4 pm until 8 pm Friday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home 115 S. West St. Dakota.
Private family graveside service will be held Saturday followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Freeport Mennonite Church with the Reverend David Schrader officiating.
