Julia Y. Staska (known as Sissy by many family and friends), 82, of Freeport, died Saturday, December 13, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born June 16, 1932 in Chicago she was the daughter of Thomas and Gretchen (Bender) Mackall. She married Martin Staska September 26, 1953 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before his death on April 10, 2011.
Julia worked for Kraft Foods in Chicago and was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Oak Lawn, Illinois before joining Immanuel Lutheran Church in 1990.
Surviving are her son, Guy (Lisa) Staska of Valparaiso, Indiana; her grandchildren, Evan Staska of Valparaiso, Indiana and Josh Staska of German Valley; her daughter-in-law, Linda Staska of German Valley and life-long friend Dolores Hebel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her son, Tod Staska; three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
