ROCKFORD - Julie Kay Germain, 43, formerly of Rock City, passed away at her home, Monday, January 7, 2008. Julie was born on November 4, 1964, at Beloit Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Merlin and Joyce (Mayes) Germain. She graduated from Dakota High School in 1982 and attended Rock Valley College where she earned her Pharmacy Technician Certification. She was employed as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS Pharmacy in Rockford. Julie was a ten-year 4-H member in Stephenson County winning many awards and honors in addition to being involved with the Teens Encounter Christ (TEC) organization and the Cursillo. She was a former volunteer of several area organizations including Tri-District Ambulance, Meals on Wheels, and St. Patrick's Irish Grove Church. Julie was an avid Rockford Ice Hogs and Green Bay Packer fan. She also loved her cats Hunter and Felicity. Julie is survived by sisters Ann Foster of St. Anthony, MN and Mary Jo (Michael) Harris of Madison, WI; brothers Paul (Eve) Germain of Winnebago, IL and Mark (Bonnie) Germain of Rockford, IL; nieces, Nichole Germain and Joey Hayunga; nephews Chad Mulder, Chris Mulder, and Peter Germain; grand-nieces Aylssa Mulder and Bryann Hayunga; and grand-nephews Dylan Hayunga and Gage Mulder. She was preceded in death by her parents. In addition, Julie had a host of friends and coworkers in the Rockford area that she also considered family. Visitation will be held at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Dakota, IL from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2008, and at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2008 with prayers scheduled for 9:15 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Irish Grove with Msgr. Eric Barr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Julie's name for disbursement between several local organizations.
