New Glarus, WI- June E. Griffin, 94, of New Glarus, WI, formerly of Freeport, died Friday, March 11, 2005 at the New Glarus Home in New Glarus.
Born June 29, 1910 in Cedarville she was the daughter of Jacob D. and Maude E. (Smith) Lapp. She married Milo W. Griffin October 14, 1931 and he died February 11, 1998.
June worked beside her husband on their farm in Stephenson County for almost 40 years. After retirement in 1971, travel and spending even more time with their family and friends filled their lives.
Being involved at Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member for 58 years, was very important to her. June loved cats, gardening, her house plants, and birds.
Surviving is her daughter, Joyce (Hugh) Bell of Madison, Wisconsin; two granddaughters, Tracy (Huibert) Verhoeven of San Jose, CA and Nancy Bell of Estes Park, CO; 1 great granddaughter, Kaia Verhoeven of San Jose, CA.; very special nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 brother, Martin I. Lapp; 3 sisters, Esther Moen, Bernice Staas, and Sarah Altenburg.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 23, 2005, 1 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport, Illinois with the Reverend Justin Mapes and the Reverend Steven Bullmer officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, Illinois.
Visitation will be Tuesday March 22, 2005, 5 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 321 W. Main St., Freeport, Illinois 61032.
