Kaitlin Elizabeth Gomez died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. She was 29 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Kaitlin was born on March 31, 1995 in DeKalb, IL. She grew up in Rock City, IL the youngest of three children. She went to school through 9th grade at Dakota schools, then graduated from high school at Indiana Academy in Cicero, IN. After high school, Kaitlin completed a degree in dental hygiene from Indiana University South Bend. Upon graduation, Kaitlin married Lazaro Ramirez, and together they had a daughter, Alessandra Ramirez. In 2022, Kaitlin started working at Swiss Colony in Monroe, WI as a baker. In June of 2024. Kaitlin married Kevin Gomez and resided in Ridott, IL along with Alessandra. Kaitlin was a faithful member of the Rockford SDA Church.

Kaitlin is survived by her first husband, Lazaro; current spouse, Kevin; her in-laws Dagoberto and Luz Gomez of Columbia; daughter, Alessandra; parents, Stephen and Edna (neé Marquardt) Baptist of Rock City, IL; brothers, Sheldon Baptist (Arlette) of Oneida, IL and Brandon Baptist (LeAnne) of Columbus, WI; nieces, Charlotte and Abigail Baptist and grandparents, Norman and Thelma Baptist of Rock City, IL. Kaitlin is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Kaitlin is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Roger and Mary Lou Marquardt and paternal aunt Tamara Hamel (neé Baptist).

Kaitlin will be remembered as a devoted friend, generous with her time and talents, including her beautiful piano playing, her love for family, and her faith in God.

A celebration of life will be held at the Rockford SDA Church, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up in Alessandra's name.
