Karl Kauffman, age 73 of Ridott, IL, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at FHN Memorial hospital in Freeport, IL. He was born July 20, 1943, the son of the late Grant and Margaret (Hubert) Kauffman. He married Sylvia Alleman on September 19, 1964; she passed away on October 22, 2012.
Karl was a bartender, car painter and welder who could fix anything. He had worked for Case Speciality Fabricating and Illinois Water Treatment. He also owned and operated the Cedar Inn for 21 years. He enjoyed socializing, fishing, tractor pulls, drag racing and watching car races. Cars were his passion and he loved to build them.
He is survived by his son, Todd (Jennifer) Kauffman of Ridott; daughter, Laura Kauffman of Dakota, IL; grandchildren, Alec, Zachary, Zowie & Hutson; mother-in-law, Ruby Alleman; brother-in-law, David Alleman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kauffman; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia; sister, Alice Canfield; brothers, George and Earl; and father-in-law, Rex Alleman.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 am Walker Mortuary in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at the Ridott Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established
