Karl E. LaBudde, 91, of Freeport, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born February 9, 1919 in Freeport he was the son of Oscar and Esther (Staas) LaBudde. He married Marjorie I Erdman November 5, 1942 in Freeport and she died December 22, 2008.
From 1950 until 1966 Karl was a farmer. He worked at Micro Switch for 8 years and then for 15 years at Newell Companies retiring in 1981.
A WWII Army veteran he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.
His memberships included, Trinity United Methodist Church, Stephenson County Antique Engine Club, and Fraternal Order of the Moose.
He was an avid camper and member of Freeport Family campers and a charter member of Stage Coach Sams.
Surviving is his daughter, Geraldine (Frank) Walker; his son, Duane (Viola) LaBudde; all of Freeport; 2 grandchildren, Patrick (Angie) LaBudde and Kimberly LaBudde both of Forreston; 5 great grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, Zoie, Jason, and Paige; 1 sister, Ethel (Christopher) Ascher of Forreston; 2 brothers, Robert (Joan) LaBudde of Cedarville and Paul LaBudde of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and 1 brother.
Funeral service will be Friday 10:30 a.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Julie Blunt of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary where at 7 p.m. there will be a Fraternal Order of the Moose memorial service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
