Obituary

Freeport-Karl Turn, 81, of Freeport, died Sunday, June 19, 2005 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born July 13, 1923 in Kursi, Estonia he was the son of Edward and Marie (Reim) Turn. He married Eva Kalvik February 9, 1946 and she died November 4, 1996.
During World War II he was in the transportation unit for the German Army and after the war he was in the United States Civilian Corp.
He worked at Micro Switch for many years retiring in 1982 as a group leader.
His memberships included, Chicago Estonia Lutheran Church, Chicago Estonian House and the Freeport Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving is his daughter, Reet Turn of Freeport, his son, Rein (Sherry) Turn of Valley Park, MO; three grandchildren, Amanda L. (Benjamin) Turn-Shamback of Mobile, Alabama , Andrew R. Turn of St. Louis, MO, and Andrea L. (Gunnar Anderson) Turn of Los Angeles, CA; 1 great grandchild, Edie T. Shamback of Mobile, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 brothers
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be Saturday 2 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Don Jamerson of First Free Methodist Church officiating.
There will be a gathering Saturday 1 p.m. until time of service at the Mortuary.
A memorial has been established in his name.
