Katherene J. Benson, 96, of Freeport, died Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Presence St. Joseph in Freeport.
Born April 17, 1919 in Red Oak she was the daughter of Harvey and Bertha (Borchart) Scheider. She married Dale E. Benson December 22, 1938 and he died December 26, 1994.
Katherene was a Beautician at Sonnie's Beauty Salon in Freeport until retiring in 1980.
She was a 25 year volunteer for RSVP.
Surviving are her grandchildren, Valerie DeBoer of Freeport and Matthew Benson of Madison, Wisconsin; her great grandchild, Luke Benson of Madison, Wisconsin; and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, daughter- in-law, and 3 brothers.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Grandview Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name.
