Katherine L. Forrester, age 86 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home Tuesday, July 25, 2017. She was born August 9, 1930 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of the late Walter and Stella (Owen) Miller. She graduated from Harrison High School where she played in the band. Katherine married Thomas Eugene Forrester Sr. on November 20, 1948; he preceded her in death November 13, 2013.
Katherine and Thomas moved to Freeport from Chicago when Thomas received his call to ministry. They devoted their lives to serving God and others especially helping senior citizens. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed writing poetry and cooking, especially large Sunday dinners. She also loved her dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas; son, Thomas Jr.; brothers Franklin, George, and Leroy; and sisters Florence, Dorothy, Lucile, Mildred, and Alta. She is survived by her sons, Terry (wife Sharon) Forrester Sr. and Michael (wife Karen) Forrester of Freeport; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Barbara Gibson of Batavia, IL; and daughter-in-law, Cindy Forrester of Greenville, SC.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 29th at 2:00 pm at the Cedarville Baptist Church in Cedarville, IL with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
