Kathi Anne Spencer, age 60 of Freeport, IL, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport. She was born on February 21, 1958 in Cedar Falls, IA; the daughter of David W. and Mary C. (Fritzenmeier) Spencer. Kathi attended Freeport Schools and graduated from FHS. She studied at Ray-Vogue School of Design in Chicago and earned a business degree at DePaul University.

Kathi then worked in advertising for Williams-Gerard. That led to a trade show in Los Angeles where she was offered a job at Blue Skies Studios using her computer skills. She then went to Warner Brothers to do two Batman movies. She later took some time off to give birth to her only child, Talia A. Spencer. When she returned, she worked for Disney for several years and then for Dreamworks.

Kathi is survived by her daughter, Talia; parents, David and Mary of Freeport; brother, James Spencer; step-brother, Scott (Dede) Arnold; aunt, Janet Piefer; Uncle, Ken Spencer; nieces & nephews, Aaron (Megan) Walz, Benjamin Walz, Brandon Guzzardo, Nicole (Charles) Shocklee; and 2 ^nd cousins, Jace Shocklee. She is preceded in death by two sister, Deborah Walz and Laura Spencer, who was her loving care taker for the past nine years and died on May 17, 2018.
