Obituary

Monroe, North Carolina (Photo) - Kathryn Jean LaMont Welty, 40, of Monroe, North Carolina, formerly of Freeport, died Sunday February 15, 2004 at the Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Born November 25, 1963 in Freeport she was the daughter of Lynn and Joann (Hill) LaMont. She married Jeff A. Welty in June of 1984.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Regents College.
Kathy was a very devout Christian all her life. She was very active in her church, before her long illness, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday school, and participating in bible studies. She helped others even though she was very ill.
A wonderful mom and wife, she enjoyed family events and outings and things in nature, and doing crafts and sewing.
Kathy was an accomplished pianist and vocalist. She was also interested in drama, and participated in several plays during her school years.
She helped in the family business and was an excellent sales person. She was warm and witty and will be deeply missed by her many, many friends and loving family.
Surviving is her husband, Jeff of Monroe, NC; her mother, Joann (Larry) Kerchner of Freeport; maternal grandparents, Elmer (Elsie) Hill of Freeport; two sons, Ryan A. Welty and Brandon C. Welty both of Monroe, NC; three stepbrothers, Jeff (Robin) Kerchner of German Valley, Todd (Teresa) Kerchner of Davis, and Mike Kerchner of Freeport. One sister in law, Debby (David) Krivanek of Cedar Rapids, IA.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; her father, Lynn LaMont; two sisters, Rebecca and Cynthia LaMont.
