Freeport – Kay A. Bailey, 84 of Freeport passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital on Monday, May 9 ^th , 2022.  She was born on December 20, 1937 to the late Carl and Phyllis (Reifsteck) Miller in Hanover, Illinois.  She graduated in 1955 and went on to build a life for her children working various positions and then retiring from Honeywell.

She loved flower gardening, bird watching and playing euchre.  She was very philanthropic supporting many charities such as the Northern Illinois Food Bank, Boys Town, the Disabled Vets, World Wildlife Federation, the Shriners and especially St. Jude's Children's hospital.

She is survived by her children Carlene (Bill) Wickler of Hanover, Douglas (Robin Timmer) Bailey of Freeport and Georgina (Troy) Lieb of Freeport.  She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara James of Austin, TX.  Her legacy includes 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Cheryl Sands and her son, Gregory Bailey.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial has been established in her name for St. Jude's Children's hospital.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com .
