Sunrise -December 26, 1939 in Freeport, Illinois, Kay was born the fifth and youngest child of Oliver Kenneth Miller and Myrtle June Folk Miller of Mt. Morris, Illinois.
Sunset - April 1, 2026 at Parkview Home in Freeport, Illinois, after a short bout with cancer, she joined her husband and siblings playing cards in heaven.
Kay married Kenneth Sorn on September 14, 1957 in Mt. Morris, Illinois. In 2025, they celebrated their 68th anniversary with their 2 children; Cindy S. (Jon) Phillips of Freeport and Timothy J. (Stephanie) Sorn of Phelps, Wi.
Kay and Ken raised 2 children, daughter, Cindy was their army baby, born in Fort Hood, TX in 1960. Son, Timothy, was Kay's birthday baby, born on her own birthday in 1962 in Rockford, Illinois.
Kay enjoyed bowling, traveling, golfing, bingo, thrifting, and mushroom hunting. She volunteered for many years at Freeport Memorial Hospital as a candy striper and mini-medic tour coordinator. In retirement, Kay and Ken especially enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and spending winters in Surprise, AZ.
Kay is survived by her children and grandchildren: Shawn (Jenna) Phillips of Darlington, WI, Linsey (Bob Dixon) Phillips of Freeport, IL., Sierra Richards of Iron River, MI and Tabitha (Anthony Gischer) Richards of Dakota, IL. Great grandchildren are Landon and Hattie Phillips of Darlington, WI. SHe is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth on December 14, 2025 and her sister, Mary Ann (Keith) Glazier of Tucson, AZ on March 6, 2026. Also her parents and brothers, Marvin (Juanita) Miller of Mt. Morris, IL, Richard Miller of Morrison, IL, and Gary (Sharon) Miller of Oregon, IL.
Grateful thanks to the professional staff of Parkview and FHN Mercy Hospice for their special care.
Cremation rites have been accorded and condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
A joint celebration of life for Kay and Ken will be held on Saturday, April 18, Beltline Cafe, 325 South St., Freeport, IL with a taco bar and lots of good memories to share from 12-2pm.
