Freeport – Kenneth A. Koester, 65 of Freeport passed away unexpectedly at home on January 22, 2025.  He was born April 25, 1959 in Freeport to Bernard and Dolores (Stadel) Koester.  He worked at Titan Tire for 40 years and recently retired.

He enjoyed playing Euchre for hours, watching his grandson play football and helping family and friends with home improvement projects.  He was a serious Chicago Bears fan as well.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Steve) Koester of Galena, IL and son, Daniel Koester of Rock City, IL.  Brothers, Brian Koester of Rock Falls, IL and James (Sarah) Koester of O'Fallon, IL; sister Julie (Tom) Crothers of Lena, IL.  His grandchildren are Renee McNett and Josh McNett.  His great grandchildren are Christopher Byrne and Violet Howell.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Deborah Koester and Mary Koester.

There will be a visitation held on Friday, January 31st, 2025 from 4-7pm at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota, IL.  The funeral service will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:30am also at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home.
