Freeport-Kermit E. Aspinwall 88 of rural Freeport, died Friday, January 12, 2007, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born October 8, 1918 in Freeport he was the son of Edgar and Elizabeth (Volkers) Aspinwall in the Bolton area. He married his loving wife of 69 years, Leona Peck in Dubuque, Iowa on November 22, 1937. Kermit will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends.
He farmed for many years, substituted for the U.S. Postal Service, hauled milk13 years and was employed by the Pearl City CoOp. Of his many interest he enjoyed snowmobiling, spending the winters at Apache Junction in Arizona and driving almost nightly to Lake Le-Aqua-Na to count deer. Family gatherings were always an important part of Kermit's life he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of Van Brocklin United Methodist Church.
Surviving is his wife, Leona of Freeport; two sons, Russell (Janet) Aspinwall of Lena and Gerald (Linda) Aspinwall of Pearl City; one daughter, Sharon (Stan) Johnson of Wyola, Montana; six grandchildren, Craig, Todd, Lindy, Dena, Stacy, and Lori ; three great grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle and Tanya; one sister Winifred Armagost; sister in law Dorothy Cain and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Vivian Schmitt and Aletha Eder.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Rodney Caldwell of Van Brocklin Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 10:00 am Monday until the time of service at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial fund has been established in his name for Van Brocklin Church.
