Freeport – Kevin J. Benters, 66 of Freeport passed away at UW Madison Hospital, Madison WI on June 22, 2023 with his family at his side.  He was born on July 2, 1956 to the late John and Ruth (Duncan) Benters.  He went to Le-Win High School. Kevin and LeeAnn Gundrey were married on August 8, 1987 and together they raised a family.

He loved being a trucker for Meiborg Brothers Trucking, spending time with his grandkids, his family, and watching Westerns and MASH on TV.  He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and he loved to watch and collect anything with bald eagles.

He is survived by his wife, LeeAnn of Freeport; his sons, Melvin (Kristin) Miley of Knoxville, TN; Matthew (Nicole) Fransen of Freeport; and his daughter, Shawna McIntosh of Freeport.  His brothers, Charles Anderson of MO; Glen Benters of Florida and Eldon Benters of Lena.  His legacy also includes 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a visitation at 10am on Tuesday, June 27th, 2023 at Walker Mortuary followed by an 11am service also at Walkers.  His final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
