Larry E. Maggard, age 78 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home Saturday, December 10, 2016. He was born September 18, 1938 in Ashland, KY to the late Glen and Bessie (Fitzer) Maggard. He attended Kentucky schools through the 6th grade, he then moved to Illinois. Larry had served in the United States Navy. He married Patsy Lamm on October 14, 1975; she passed April 12, 2006.

Larry worked as a carpenter for Meyer Building for 30 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Moose Club and Horseshoe League. He enjoyed painting, fishing, photo editing, and playing horseshoes. He especially loved woodworking and wood burning.

He is survived by his daughter, Tami (Kevin) Kubatzke of Pearl City, IL; daughter-in-law, Valerie Bardell of Freeport; son, Jeff (Amy) Bardell of Freeport; grandchildren, Tiffany (Jay) Marten, Troy Bardell, Tierra Anderson, Tannah Bardell, Shawn Kubatzke, Jennifer (Jason) Kuhse, Ashley Kubatzke, Nichole Bardell, Angela (Andrew) Schwartz, and Justin Bardell; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy; son, Scott; and sister.

A private family service will be held. Upon his wishes, he will be donated to the Anatomical Gift Society. A memorial fund has been established for the Humane Society and TLC Veterinary Hospital.
