Larry L. Pfile, 82 of Freeport, IL went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2024.  He was born on May 30, 1941 to Ezra and Wilda (Shank) Pfile.

Larry was a lifelong member of the Freeport Mennonite Church.  He graduated from Dakota High School in 1959 and farmed his whole life in the Dakota area.  He also worked for Stephenson Mutual Insurance in Rock City.  Larry was in the DHIA Organization for several years at Lancaster Township.  He served on the Stephenson County Mutual Board of Directors for many years, six of those as president.

Larry married Judith Clark on October 8, 1960.  She preceded him in death in 2008.  On January 2, 2009, he married Sally Bardell.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sally, four children, Pam (Bill) Keister of St. Cloud, FL, Kim Hershberger of Ft. Myers, FL, Vickie (Troy) Milks of Beloit, WI and Brad (Sally) Pfile of Freeport, two stepchildren, Loraine (Tom) Plaster of Freeport and Dan (Andrea) Bardell of Bottineau, ND, 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren, two sisters, Marlene Hardaway of Freeport, Margie (Tim) Siebert-Armstrong and one brother, Dean (Coleen) Pfile of Freeport, step-brother Kevin Gerloff as well as many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Judith, mother and father, brothers-in-law, Richard Hardaway and Steve Siebert, and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial has been established in his name for a ministry that was near and dear to his heart, the MCC Canning Ministry at Freeport Mennonite Church.

There will be a visitation held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4-7 at the Freeport Mennonite Church.  An additional visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024 beginning at 10am until the time of service at 11am all at the church.  His final resting place will be at the Mennonite Church cemetery.  Condolences can be left for his family at www.walkermortuary.com .
