Obituary
Larry M. Shelly , age 82 of Ridott, IL, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born June 27, 1935; the son of the late Melvin and Edith (Erdman) Shelly. He had served in the United States Army Reserve from 1956 to 1964. Larry married Mary Ann Oppold on June 18, 1955.
He was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge in Freeport. He enjoyed Fishing, hunting, gardening and woodworking. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and always had a joke to tell.
Larry is survived by his wife, his sons, Kirk (Marsha) Shelly and Mark (Darla) Shelly both of Davis, IL; daughters, Jill (Tim) Homan of Rockford and Lisa (Terry) Starliper of Freeport; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Briggs of Freeport. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Leon Shelly; and sister, Janice VanHauen.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 11 th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The memorial service will be Monday, March 12 th at 10:00 am also at Walker Mortuary. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in his name.Services
