Obituary
Laura L. Derr , age 94 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. She was born February 15, 1924; the daughter of the late George and Laura (Buffum) Cooper. She married William Derr on January 22, 1945; he passed on December 16, 2011.
Laura worked as a teacher's aide and volunteered at the Salvation Army. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Lena and of TOPS. She enjoyed reading, going for walks, and baking. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Theresa (Elwyn) Drye of Rockford, Darlene (Landis) Barr of Orangeville, Marlene Pearson of Freeport, Patti Rowe of Freeport, and Kelly Derr of Sterling; grandchildren, Robert (Keri) Barr, David (Lacey) Pearson, Deanna Hendrix, and Heather (Joe) Maddalozzo; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; 9 siblings; and 2 son-in-laws, Jeff Rowe and Robert Earl Pearson.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 29 th at 11:00 a.m. at Gund Cemetery in Freeport, IL with Pastor Miho Yasukawa presiding. A time of fellowship will follow the service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.Services
