Obituary

Laura Radzi, 93, of Freeport died Monday, August 4, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport. Born September 20, 1920 in Elvington, England she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Jones. Laura was an RN for the Royal Air Force during the war where she met her beloved husband Felix. On March 27, 1948 they were united in marriage and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1997. After coming to the United States she worked as an RN at St. Luke Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago. Later she became a legal secretary for Nathan Sodstrom attorney. She then worked as an industrial nurse for Reflector Hardware in Chicago. Laura then worked for Motorola in Franklin Park and as a beautician from her home. She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Franklin Park. Surviving are her son Wayne (Gayle) Radzi of Freeport; granddaughter Jennifer (Brian) Polky of Loves Park; great grandson Aiden; nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, five sisters and a brother. Cremation rites will be accorded and private family services will be held at the St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, IL.
