LaVerne L. Krahmer, 80, of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born October 23, 1933 in Freeport he was the son of Harvey and Edith (Goethe ) Krahmer.
He married Shirley A. Kortemeier December 26, 1954.
He owned Kunz Brothers Auto Parts in Freeport and Rock Valley Distributing, Inc. in Loves Park.
He was an avid square dancer. A do-it-yourself person LaVerne was meticulous in his attention to details. Work was pleasure to him.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley of Freeport; three sons, Randy (Deborah) Krahmer and Rick Krahmer both of Freeport and Rodney Krahmer of Salem, Oregon; his sister, Gladys Boelk of Medford, Wisconsin; fourgrandchildren, Stephanie (Eric) Bertram, Randy (Holly) Krahmer II, Kevin Krahmer and Michelle Krahmer; four great grandchildren, Madison Bertram, Hannah Bertram, Noah Hall and Mason Krahmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
Private burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
There will be a gathering for family and friends 4-7 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Walker Mortuary.
A memorial has been established in his name.
