Laverne (Kookie) G. Thompson of Freeport, passed away Monday, January 31, 2023.  He was born on June 16, 1943 in Carroll County.  He was the son of Glenn and Bertha (Kruse) Thompson.  He married Ingrid (Zahn) Hottmann on November 1, 1963 in Germany.

Laverne retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Co. in 1985.  Surviving are his wife Ingrid; daughter Marylin (Cal) Diestelmeier; son Ralf (Anita) Hottmann; grandchildren Cal Diestelmeier Jr., Aaron Hottmann and Alicia Hottmann; 3 great grandchildren; one sister Lavonne (Kenneth) Wagenecht of Freeport and oodles of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Kenneth Thompson of Freeport and William (Bill) Thompson of Cedarville.

It has been requested to keep it simple... He requested there not be any visitation nor funeral services.
