Freeport-Leanna O. Barber, 96, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 28, 2003 at Parkview Home.
Born November 25, 1907 in Oneco Township she was the daughter of Robert M. and Elta (Fahr) Belknap. She married Roscoe H. (Steve) Barber on June 8, 1933 at Grace Methodist Church in Rockford and he died January 26, 1973.
She taught in the country schools at both Hart and Buck Eye Townships. She worked at Micro Switch for 30 years retiring in 1972.
Her memberships include, Embury United Methodist Church for over 60 years, United Methodist Women, Micro Quarter Century Club, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are cousins, Mary Shultz of Monroe, Wisconsin, Rockie and Grace Heck of Orangeville, Russel and Carol Heck of Lee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Parkview Home with Dr. Gerald Robey of Parkview Home and Reverend Peter Agnew of Embury United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Friends may call at time of service on Wednesday at Parkview Home.
A memorial has been established for Embury United Methodist Church.
