Leatrice "Sue" M. Bower , age 72 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Manor Court in Freeport. She was born December 31, 1947 to Stanley and Agnes (Norton) Coon. She was a 1968 graduate of Freeport High School. Sue married Gerald Bower on February 11, 1977 in Freeport.

She worked in food service for NICAA and Meals on Wheels Program. She was also a beautician. She enjoyed jewelry, shopping for antiques and collectables, reading romance novels and going to parks, especially Krape Park where they would have annual family gatherings. She loved her miniature Schnauzers and spoiled them. She enjoyed taking her daughter to various tourist locations, such as House on the Rock and the Galena Territories. Most of all she loved spoiling her grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Bower of Freeport; daughter, Jenny (Justin Scace) Bower of Freeport; grandchildren, Tyler Lowe, Nate Bower, Logan DeSutter, Mercedes Rico, Amethyst Conroy, and David Schap; brother, Jerry (Connie) Coon of Rockford; sisters, Jeanne Toepher of Byron, IL and Kathleen Johnson of Rockford; and best friend, Linda Beightol. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4 ^th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, February 5 ^th at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life will also take place in the Spring. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
