Freeport – LeeAnn M. Benters, 67 of Freeport passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side.  She was born January 29, 1957 in Rockford to Sherman and Maryann (Gundry) Viney.  On August 8/8/1987 she married the love of her life, Kevin Benters and together they raised a family.

She was a waitress all her life and worked many places.  She loved her job and the people she served.  What made her the happiest was spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid Elvis fan and collected all kinds of Elvis memorabilia.

She is survived by her sons, Matthew Fransen of Freeport; Melvin (Kristin) Miley III of Knoxville, TN and daughter, Shawna (Brad) McIntosh of Freeport.  Her brothers, Brian (Sheila) Sherrer of Freeport, Bradley (Deb) Sherrer of Freeport and Christopher (Tabatha) Sherrer of Freeport.

Her legacy includes, 8 grandchildren, Zachary, Andre, Katrina, Devyon, Michalle, Brooke, Olivia, Samantha as well as 2 great grandchildren, Andre Jr and Tinsley.  There are many nieces and nephews and a special friend and 'sister' Cammie Coch.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, husband Kevin Benters, her parents, brother Kurt Junker and sisters Jeanette Bradt and Janice Brown.

A memorial has been designated in her name for the American Heart Association.

Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a visitation on Monday, October 28, 2024 beginning at 11am at Walker Mortuary followed by a service at 12 noon also at Walker Mortuary. Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
