Lela B. Clark, 88, of Freeport, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born March 15, 1920 in Orangeville she was the daughter of Clifford and Mabel (Rabe) Schwitz. She married Delbert G. Clark July 20, 1939 in Freeport. He died March 27, 1978.
She and her husband owned and operated the Community Spot Grocery and then Triangle Grocery in Freeport. She then worked 15 years for Micro Switch.
She was a member of Freeport Mennonite Church.
For many years Lela enjoyed camping, cooking, baking and playing table games.
Surviving is her daughter, Joyce Elaine (Jay) Yoder of Goshen, Indiana; son-in-law Larry Pfile of Freeport; 1 sister, Lynette (Donald) Talbert of Freeport; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant child, Phyllis Jean, her daughter, Judith Ann Pfile; 1 brother, Lyle Schwitz; 1 sister, Lois Borger Kortemeier.
Visitation will be Tuesday 4pm until 7pm at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Wednesday 9:30 am at the Chapel of Peace followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the Freeport Mennonite Church with the Reverend David Schrader officiating.
A memorial fund for the UW Madison Hospital Kidney Cancer Research Center has been established in Lela's name, in memory of her daughter Judith Ann Pfile.
