Obituary
Lena R. Markwardt, 91, of Freeport, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Presence St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born February 20, 1922 in Dempster, South Dakota she was the daughter of Poppe and Mamie (Ammerman) Poppen.
She married Edward Markwardt July 29, 1950 and he died in 1987.
Lena was a beautician owning Sunny's Beauty Salon in Freeport.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie (Paul) Roush of Freeport; four grandchildren, Todd Mc Ilvanie, Michelle (Jack) Perkins, Heath (Laura) Roush, and Jaime (Zack) Winn; two great grandchildren, Carson Rae and Jackson Perkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Peace at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
Visitation will be Tuesday 12 noon until time of service in the Chapel of Peace.
