Obituary

LeRoy A. Boomgarden, 81 of Forreston, formerly of German Valley died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at his home. Born May 8, 1931 in Bloomington, Illinois, he was the son of Vernon and Luella (Erbsen) Boomgarden. On June 26, 1954 he and Ilene Suttman were united in marriage. LeRoy was a lifelong member of Silver Creek Reformed Church and volunteered with the German Valley Fire Department for 46 years. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Boomgarden Garage in German Valley and was able to fix anything from a snow blower to a tractor. LeRoy enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his trip to Germany and his dog, Meggie. Surviving are his wife, Ilene, of Forreston, two sons Michael (Patty) Boomgarden of Forreston, Brian (Kathy) Boomgarden of Manitowoc, WI; six grandchildren: Katie Boomgarden, Oriel (Eric) Combs, Cade Boomgarden, Mike Hartwig, Amanda Muller, Celia Hartwig; four great grandchildren Kaylin, Morgan, Milo, Mason. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends of the family Shanna Pritchard and her children Ariel, Ethan, and Brooklyn. Preceding him in death were his parents. Visitation will be 12 noon until 2pm Saturday at Silver Creek Reformed Church, German Valley. Funeral service will be 2pm Saturday at the church with the Reverend Randall Knoll officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will be at the church cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name for the Silver Creek Reformed Church and the German Valley Fire Department.
